The position requires a BS or MS in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering. The successful applicant will perform system engineering support for Army’s Aviation helicopter weapons systems (AH-64, CH-47, OH-58, UH-60) and associated subsystems. Experience with test plans/reports, manufacturing oversight, data analysis supporting system safety and airworthiness of all Army aircraft is desirable. Experience with Army aircraft systems, or prior military service is desirable

The selected engineer will provide engineering, technical, and analytical support and coordinate as necessary with other organizations with respect to systems engineering issues and safety of flight in support of the technical decisions concerning planning, implementation, and execution of support to Army Aviation platforms.

AVIATION MAINTENANCE ANALYST

Ideal applicant will have an overall understanding of maintenance procedures, troubleshooting, technical manuals, supply and general logistics for the OH-58 aircraft but not limited to the OH-58. Applicant may be used in a variety of roles to include New Equipment Trainer, Depot level overhaul and logistics subject matter expert, TH-67 fleet management, and general support of the Armed Scout Helicopter Program. Computer literacy and high level of proficiency using TAMMS-A necessary. Candidates should be proficient with MS Office. The amount of travel required is To Be Determined.

Failure Analysis Engineer-Huntsville, AL

Avion Solutions is looking for a Failure Analysis Engineer to work in our Huntsville, AL location. The Failure Analysis Engineer will perform root cause metallurgical failure analysis of rotorcraft components in support of the Army's Aviation Quality Deficiency Reporting system.

Bachelors Degree and a minimum of 5 years directly related work experience required.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Participate in tear-down analysis, identify components that are likely involved in the failure, and specify the testing required to reveal the root cause
  • Perform failure analysis
  • Coordination of reporting activity between various engineering organizations Qualifications

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to successfully complete a background investigation to include: 50 State Criminal, Education and Employment; Additionally, your ability to successfully complete a Credit and/or Driving Records Checks may be conducted if required by the contract for continued employment.
  • Ability to gain an INTERIM SECRET security clearance is required to begin employment; Ability to maintain a SECRET security clearance is required for continued employment; US Citizenship is required.
  • Knowledge and experience of complex mechanical subsystems such as transmissions
  • Knowledge and experience with materials regarding processing, inspection, and testing
  • Knowledge and experience with destructive testing and non-destructive testing methods
  • Ability to perform analyses involving SEM/EDS, metallography, optical microscopy, hardness testing, micro-hardness testing, optical emission spectroscopy, and conductivity testing
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, Technical Manuals (TM), Depot Maintenance Work Requirements (DMWR), etc. and recommend testing to prove/disprove a component's conformance to all required specifications
  • Ability to track multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities
  • Education and/or background in metallurgical/materials engineering
  • Ability to effectively work with a team of engineers and technicians
  • Ability to effectively and accurately communicate (both verbal and written) results of failure analysis, clearly identify a root cause(s), and make recommendations for corrective action(s)
  • Ability to guide the work of technicians
  • Aviation experience REQUIRED

  • Direct experience with rotorcraft and/or aerospace components
  • Direct experience in tear down analysis of aerospace components

Cat I Deficiency Reports analysis, review/evaluation/recommend manual changes, requests for deviation(s)/waiver(s), alternate source/vendor approvals, critical safety items; intercept actions, ECPs, technical specifications. Provide engineering input/support recommendations to engineering functional groups and support all associated engineering functions. Ability to obtain/retain DoD Secret security clearance. For all positions, salary commensurate with experience/degree level.
